Children and Youth


Community Wise buzzes with children during term time.

There are pre-school activities:

Monday mornings Little Bears runs a group for pre-school children and parents. On Tuesday mornings, Living Stones Community Church runs Little Stones, for pre-schoolers of all sizes: (bumps, babes, toddlers) accompanied by parent(s), or grandparent(s). On Thursday mornings Little Bears offers Imagination Station and Messy play alternately. Daddy Bears is a midwife-led course here at Community Wise on Thursday evenings, providing information and advice to support new fathers and their babies.  Old Town Dance offers dance classes to children aged from two-and-a-half. 

There are school-age activities:

Pokemon club meets after school on Tuesdays from 4.00pm. Living Stones Community church runs Wise Up, a group for girls in school years 6-8, from 6.30-8.00pm on Tuesday evenings. The local Cubs and Scouts’ group is at Community Wise on Thursday evenings. On Friday evenings, Living Stones Community Church runs Live Wires, a youth club for children in school years 4-10 from 6.30-8.30pm.

There are teenage activities:

There are courses for teenage children at Community Wise delivered by Catch 22 who hire our rooms. This is a social business which aims to develop aspiration and resilience in young people.

Wise Buys is also the location for work experience youngsters from local schools. They learn customer services, working within a team and retail business practice here at Community Wise, under the supervision of our shop manager.
